Over 40 Santa Barbara art galleries await your patronage. Paintings, photographs, sculptures, every imaginable material, every age and style, can be found in one of the many galleries, museums, or studios. The beauty of the surrounding environment and the proximity of several colleges and universities combined attract local artists while the presence of many affluent tourists provides the necessary support for the thriving art community. One of the first things you will notice is the natural beauty of the Channel Islands to the south, the Santa Ynez Mountains to the north, the beaches, the many historical landmarks, and the always picturesque harbor. The many local artists find endless objects of inspiration in the natural environment and you will find their products on display in one or another of Santa Barbara's many galleries.

Santa Barbara Arts and Crafts Show
Though started in 1965 by local artists the Santa Barbara Arts and Crafts Show has been provided by the City Parks and Recreations Department starting a year later and is reminiscent of the sidewalk art shows in Europe as well as the Jardin de Arte in Mexico City. This is the only continuous non-juried arts festival in the world. |
